Facing Your Four-Lettered F-Word

Let’s get real about the four-lettered f-word. Not that one. I’m talking about ‘fear.’ We’re constantly looking for ways to get rid of it in our lives, but it shows up for most of us daily in some way or another. So what do we do in the face of fear?

“Courage is not the absence of fear;
it is the ability to act in the presence of fear.”
-Bruce Lee

In Episodes 181 and Episode 182 of the Are You Being Real Podcast, I interview TEDx speaker and fear expert, Kyle Kesterson – who shares with us The Dimensions of Fear – which he unpacks & breaks out into layers.

When we feel uncertainty, fear kicks in which causes discomfort. Discomfort than leads to pain as we dial it up, which evolves into internal suffering, and then the feeling of the threat of our survival, aka death.

Typically, when we feel fear, it seems like the world is closing in on us and there is seemingly no way out – and that’s because we are sandwiching each of the dimensions of fear together, versus having a relationship with each layer (i.e. embracing uncertainty), thereby stretching our comfort zones and fear response.

By stepping into fear, Kyle has transformed his relationship with it, which makes it less scary and painful and opens up new opportunities he was previously afraid of.

For more great ways to embrace fear, and to hear Kyle’s incredible story – he went from being homeless to CEO to traveling digital nomad, tune in to our 2-part interview series, and check out this awesome video clip full of wisdom below.

Wishing you courage and strength going into this new week!

Much love,
